RE-ELECT

Jeff Hanlon

EXPERIENCE AND EXPERTISE FOR OUR WATER FUTURE.

Three Valleys Municipal Water District

Division 3 for Claremont and La Verne

Nearly four years of experience on the Three Valleys Board, backed by water-policy expertise and a commitment to forward-thinking leadership.

A Rare Depth of Water Policy Experience & Expertise.

For nearly four years on the Three Valleys Board of Directors, I have worked with the diverse stakeholders shaping equitable water policy.

My background includes:

  • Teaching water policy to graduate and undergraduate students

  • Research focused specifically on California water policy

  • Degrees in conservation biology, nonprofit management, and public policy

That combination gives me a uniquely comprehensive understanding of water—from where it comes from to the policies that determine how it serves our communities.

I understand:

  • How water is sourced—from surface supplies, groundwater, and imported sources

  • How it is treated and delivered

  • How policy decisions shape whether our communities and ecosystems have what they need to thrive

Invested in Our Water. Committed to Our Future.

I’m running for re-election to the Three Valleys Municipal Water District Board because I’m deeply invested in the long-term sustainability of our community and the natural resources we depend on.

Sustainability means looking beyond today’s needs and making decisions that protect our resources for future generations.

I love Southern California. My wife, Valerie, and I chose to raise our family here. Water is one of our most precious resources, and I am committed to ensuring we manage it wisely—for our communities today and for generations to come.

“Jeff Hanlon has served on the Three Valleys Board with integrity and respect for the position. His decision-making throughout his tenure has been both balanced to the District as a whole and mindful of his constituency in La Verne and Claremont. The District would certainly benefit from having Jeff re-elected to the board of directors.”

-David DeJesus, TVMWD Director, Division II, Metropolitan Water District Board of Directors

  • Represented the Six Basins Watermaster and the San Gabriel Valley Watermaster, advocating for wise and active stormwater capture.

  • Advocated for Los Angeles County to restore groundwater recharge in the San Gabriel Valley using the Golden Mussel Management plan drafted by Three Valleys and other neighboring agencies.

  • Supported Water Education for Latino Leaders financially and strategically to help build the next generation of talented water governance professionals.

  • Worked closely with Board and Staff to strategize future water supply projects.

A Record of Results

  • Pushed to end the district's involvement with the Cadiz water project because of serious concerns about its impact on the Mojave Desert.

  • Voted to reduce rates for water retailers - even as they have chosen to raise rates for customers.

  • Oversaw major pipeline repairs and replacement for broken water lines bordering Claremont and LaVerne- a signifier of our need to reinvest in infrastructure.

  • Fiercely advocated directly to Metropolitan Water District to pursue PureWater SoCal and bring a new source of sustainable recycled water to our district.
